Ropes courses meet a number of educational, developmental, and recreational goals. Programs using low ropes course elements or group initiatives are most often designed to explore group interaction, problem-solving, and leadership.
High ropes courses take participants to the next level. Challenges may be physical and/or emotional, combining group interaction and personal achievements, by confronting personal fears and anxieties.
High element challenges involve the development and mastery of technical skills to manage rope belay systems used to secure other participants as they move through the course. In such cases, outcomes often include exploring the fundamentals of trust and coaching.
A “challenge-by-choice” approach is the key element of this program. The team has the freedom to select the challenge (element) they are willing to tackle, and try for as much as they want. In this context, every team member has even greater “challenge-by-choice” options by switching from acting to supporting (belaying) and vice versa. At the end of the event it’s all about widening your comfort zone!
