Sounion & Lavrio | The golden age
This is the place where it all began, the very spot from which the light of Western civilization emerged. Cape Sounion and the hills of Lavrio hold the answer to a very important question: “What made Athens Democracy so great 3,000 years ago?”
This is the part of history that most of us have forgotten—the true reason why the Parthenon stands today!
What you'll do
Using the digital map on Summit tablets or your own smartphone, embark on a fun tour combining mini buses or buses, and walking adventures. In teams of 4-6 people, you'll interact with locals, visit ancient and modern monuments, uncover details, collaborate with your team, and most importantly, have fun while learning.

How to Play:
- locate and visit the pins shown on the digital map
- some pins will be available from the start, while others will appear as you progress
- once there complete the tasks that pop up and gather as many points as possible to win
- answer questions and take pictures along the way or take on team challenges set by our Summit facilitators.
- finally, translate the Linear B oracle that helped Athens become the greatest naval empire of the ancient world.
- according to the game option chosen there are some tasting or cultural missions included. Successfully completing these tasks will earn you point bonuses that can impact the leaderboard results.
The route is a roundtrip from Palaia Fokaia and Anavyssos, to Ag Konstantinos village and the spectacular site of Chaos, next to the mining area of Ag Triada. The route then takes us to the oldest in Greece Thorikos theatre, then to the picturesque Lavrio and finally to the Poseidon temple and back again to Palaia Fokaia.
